First Event
I went to a special photo graphic shooting session last friday, at university of toronto. It is not a art short case or a presentation, but a pretty good opportunity to study and communication, for some people, who are not a professional master but really find passion on shooting pictures. This event is hold by a Chinese student at university of Toronto, a nonprofessional photographer who studying photo graphic and shooting pictures for a couple years. More than ten photographer including me attend this event.
Everybody showed up at 8:45 am on Friday, and the session just star at 9. After some brief preparatory work, we went to the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, which is a amazing in door theatre. This theatre is the place for a portrait shooting. The person who hold this event, find two professional models, one asian girl and one white girl. He would shoot some picture for those two models in the theatre, and rest of us were help him and study. Sine the light in the theatre is very hard to contro (pretty dark and complex), it is extremely hard to get an ideal effect. However, it is a perfect scene for us to study and practice.
The theme of this shooting is use of light. The main idea is use backlight show a fantastic feel of image. The model stand on the stage and back towards the stage light. The seat under the stage as the background will be very dark. The large depth of field able to keep the detail of shadow of the seat. The backlight leads the face of model become very dark. Therefore, we decide to use flash light. Since the light of flash light is too hard which is not good for portrait photo, we use a light umbrella to reflect the light and make the light be soft. We put the umbrella in the right side of model in 45 degree in order to show a nature shadow of the model. In addition, we use a reflector which set in the opposite of the umbrella, to increase the light of the model's face. After the light setting, we are working on the composition of the picture. We want put the model on the Fibonacci Lines of the frame, and view the model form bottom to top. Finally we solve all the problem and challenge and ready to shoot.
The equipment is Canon 5D mark II with a 50mm 1.4F L lens. The iso is around 400, and the shutter speed is around 100 to 200. There is no photoshop or any other edit and develop yet.
Form this session, I learned lots of knowledge of and earned lots of experience for photo graphic. I understand that use light properly is very important . I also learned how to use flash umbrella and how to focusing the camera at very dark situation. In addition, I knew some new friend who are pretty good at shooting picture, and we probably will hold more and more session that like this time, in the future.
Second Event

Place: Mcmaster museum of art
Art Project: Unfallen
Artist: Ramona Ramlochand
Background:
Unfallen is a work-project by Montreal artist Ramona Ramlochand. It consists of a kinetic sculpture element with a close-circuit video trasmission, and photographs. "It digs deeper into the recesses of time, and raises questions around how the past is constantly reinvented and relived in the present." (Ramona Ramlochand)

Perspective:
It is a very creative art project. I saw a lot of different items. Those items is spinning very fast in a Transparent water jar. My eyes just can not leave the water jar, when I watched it. Its move very fast, and very smooth. The colour is vivid, the shadow is beautiful.
Reflection:
-Three useful or interesting idea:
1) The author use water, transparent glass and light to illustrate a fantasy effect.
2) The author make a whirlpool in the centre of the wate jar which lead all items rotating. The rotating is a very effective movement that attract the eyes of audiences.
3) The author use projector to display the art on a huge white wall, that make this project bigger and clearer, in order to emphasis the theme of it.
-Three direct application to myself:
1) Sample and Clean are two important rules for art project. I should always follow those two rules in I do my project.
2) If I am able to make my project moving or changing, it will attracts the eyes of audiences easily.
3) Complicated content with sample background are great combination for art project.
Question: what kind of technique the author use for this art project?
Third Event
Time: April 3, 2012; 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Place: Mcmaster museum of art
Art Project: Animal Locomotion
Artist: Eadweard Muybridge
Time:1887
In the museum:
#92 Acsending Stairs, 1887
#222 Stooping, Lifting A Water Jar To Head And Turning, 1887
#391 Farmer Mowing Grass, 1887
#157 Jumping, Running Twist High Jump
In the basement of McMaster Art Gallery, the following prints were also seen: 352, 388, 742, 611, 448, 435, 27
Background:
The Animal Locomotion was the act of self-propulsion by animals and people. It had many manifestations, which including running, swimming, jumping flying and so on. For many animals the ability to move was to survival and, as a result, selective pressures had shaped the locomotion methods and mechanisms employed by moving organisms. For example, migratory animals that traveled vast distances typically had a locomotion mechanism that costs very little energy per unit distance, whereas non-migratory animals that must frequently move quickly to escape predators are likely to have costly but very fast locomotion. The studied animal locomotion that was typically considered to be a sub-field of biomechanics.

Perspective:
The Animal Locomotion was a awesome job that illustrated the movement. It focused on the specific movement of humans and animals by photographic. The Animal Locomotion not only interesting to watch, but also described the main idea of the animation. It took me a long time to watch and to consider for each of the picture.
Reflection:
-Three useful or interesting idea:
1) The author try to study the motion from animals, which include a lot of interesting movements and some basic movements. He also involve many society life and sport in the project.
2) The author consider the size and the position of each photo. It was every helpful for the whole project. Audiences may see the movement of the object easily and clearly.
3) Rother than just the movement of the animals, the author as a lots of still lives in his photographic. That make the content of the project be vivid and interesting, also identify the culture of people.
-Three direct application to myself:
1) It's very important to make the project in a good order and suitable size. Great organization let the art project be clear and strong.
2) It's a good idea to explain the project in different point of view. It not only make the content of our work to be richer, but also give to the audiences of the project a better effective.
3) We should always open our mind and get ready to recognize the useful resource for our project form our life.
Question: How long it took to make each frame of the pictures? What camera the author used to produce those photos?
